Line / trailer concrete pump

A trailer pump pushes concrete through hose and steel line into backyards, through gates and under patios.

A line pump (also called a trailer pump or ground pump) sits near the street and pushes concrete through a hose that the crew lays to the pour. It is the workhorse for residential flatwork: backyard patios, pool decks, slabs behind fences, room additions and footings where a ready-mix truck cannot drive in.

Line pumps need a pump mix — typically smaller rock (3/4" or less) and a wetter slump — so tell your ready-mix supplier that the load will be pumped. Long hose runs may also need grout to prime the line.

Good fit for

  • Backyard patios and pool decks
  • Driveways and sidewalks behind gates
  • Room additions and garage slabs
  • Footings, grade beams and small foundations
  • Block wall grout fill
